Is it ok to bite thoes little bumps on your tounge?

you know thoes little annoying slightly painfull bumps on your tounge? well i was wondering if its ok to bite them.. i mean i know you can probibly get an inffection but it wont cause cancer right? but i did already bite into it anyway, i was just wondering if it was ok. thank you :)
